  1. I did the 1st. Activity on Algebra 1.
The error: was that she was writing different numbers or just the wrong problems down.
The accommodation: I would write the problem bigger on a whiteboard so that she could read it better. I also made sure that her problem was written down correctly, before she would start solving the problem.
The error: she would forget to carry down her positive and negative signs on her problem solving.
The accommodation: I would guide and help her step by step on her problems. On her final step I would let her get her answer on her own, but I would ask her to see if her answer should be positive or negative. On the ones that she struggled a bit I would tell her to go back and check work again.
I also would let her use a calculator with the negative button on it to see if that would help her.
The error: she would get her answer wrong because of wrong calculations.
The accommodation: I would let her use a multiplication table, but if that wouldn't, help I would let her use a calculator.
To help the student faster I would do the work on a separate piece of paper ahead of time. When I would go help them I already had it in front of me and I could pinpoint where there mistakes were at.

    1. I would check with the teacher, explain that the student has the correct answers for the problems they have written, then ask if they could be accepted in lieu of the assigned problems. I would try to make sure the rest of the problems were written correctly before the student began solving them.

    2. its hard with calculators with some students bcause if they put in the wrong numbers then they get the wrong answer, or if they do it by hand and try tyo figure it out that way it even more difficult. So then you have to show them how to put in the right numbers and also with doing it by hand it need to be to were they can do it in there head and its not so hard for them.

    3. I like doing that too writing down the problem with them and working step by step with them helps them see where they make mistakes.

  2. I chose Activity 2. The student is to be able to copy a sentence from the board and identify the subject and predicate. The student may have difficulty in copying the sentence. I could copy the sentence for the student, then have the student underline or highlight the subject and predicate in different colors. If the student does not understand the concept of subject and predicate, I could reteach, then offer samples sentences until the student understands. These may be simple sentences until they catch on. Then hopefully, they should be able to identify the subject and predicate of the assigned sentence.

    1. haveing to simplefy the sentnces is better for the students and highlighting in diffrent colors is good also.

    2. Yes I agree with that they also enjoy it.

    3. We do flash cards to help with the problems to

    4. I like to color code n highlight the sentences for our students even this helps them a great deal to better understand the material they are learning n reading.

  3. I chose Activity 2 because the students just learned about Subject and Predicates.
The Error- She was writing the sentence incorret (reading and writing isnt strong subject) so when she wrote the sentence it was like words mixed around and the sentence didnt make sence.
Accommodation- I wrote the sentnces down and had her grab colored penciles and underline the subject and circle the predicate.
Error- they had a workbook page and she got it incorrect and she really didnt know what was going on.
Accommodation- I helped her redo her assignment and we went over the subject and predicate and i made examples for her that show her the subject and predicate.
Error- they learned anout the simple subject and the simple predicate and that was harder for the student.
Accomidation- i helped her take notes and showed her how they should look and that helped alot.
Error- had another work sheet about simle subject and simple predicate and it was incorrect also.
Accomidation- i helped her with her corrections. Then i made more sentnces for her and we went over them untill she understood what she had to do and finaly got them right.

    1. I agree with all your examples I do most of those with students at my school.

    2. We also color code the sentences and parts of speech in English. There are times that we underline a part of speech and circle the other part in their sentences, for them to understand better.

    3. i also like the idea of color coding in english/grammar, i am going to have to try this with a student of mine.

  4. I chose Activity 2. The assignment for the student is to be able to copy a sentence from a board and show the subject and predicate. The error is that he was writing the sentence down but all miss spelled (has trouble with spelling). So when I tryed reading it, it was very difficult. The solution is I wrote it down for he and he colored or highlighted the subject and predicate. When he still didn't get it I slowed it down more and gave a couple new sentences that were a little easier.

    1. Sometimes the simple things we do seems to make a huge difference for our students.

    2. I think when you highlight or colored code them is very good, because we do that in our English classes also and it helps a lot.

    3. I think just the smallest detail in work makes a big difference for the student

    4. i agree with you highlighting and slowing down helps them understand better the lesson good

    5. I agree with shelby on the white board part.

  5. Activity 1

Error: copying numbers from book to paper in order

Accommodations: underlining the problems with marker or help write the problem for the them

Error: not being able to count the numbers in the right order

Accommodations: Write down the numbers in order on a white board for them so they can see the order

Error: not following negatives and positives signs

Accommodations: work each step with them and have them tell me if their answer is positive or negative

Error: basic adding or subtracting problems

Accommodations: using manipulatives such as building blocks to help them add or subtract

    1. I agree with the adding and subtracting idea

    2. i also have a student who doesn't quite get the numbers in order and i use a number line that they can use to count on for problems or just see the numbers in order

  6. I'm going to choose activity two because our variation of students we work with daily learn in different ways but we try to work on there level and pace they are comfortable with writing on a white board walking them through it step by step then they work it out with us on another white board so they are learning the problem and getting the answer on their terms it's nice.

  7. Note-taking skills seems to be an issue, not only for special education students, but for general ed. students as well. A Livescribe pen records what the teacher is saying while the note taker is writing down key words from the lecture on special dot matrix paper that comes with the pen. Then when the student goes to study from his notes, all he has to do is touch a key word that he had written and the teacher's lecture is replayed for him. The are about $100 and come with special paper. Another note taking device is Notability which is a free app for the iPad. It records the teacher as the student types the notes. Educreations is an app that would be good for math. It is basically a white board on the iPad that records sound. That way the student can record what the teacher says as they explain the problem while they do it on the iPad. What results is a mini lesson on how to do each kind of problem.

    1. We have some kids that are slow writers so they cant always get everything down like they need to. We need to invest in the livescribe or the teacher needs to print out her notes for the student.

  8. I did activity 1
error: the student copies the wrong numbers from the book or board
accommodation: remind the students to double check their writing and highlight the numbers like 6 and 9
error: the students struggles with adding or subtraction
accommodation: have them the opportunity when they are done check their answers again but with a multiplication table that they made.
    error: signs
accommodation: circle them with a different color so they know which one they are doing

  9. I chose Activity 1,
Error was incorrect copying from the board, accommodation was to give the student a copy of what was on the board so they could have it in front of themselves
Error was incorrect calculation of multiplication and or addition and or subtraction problems. accommodation was to work with the student to create a table for all three using the numbers 1 - 10 so they can use on other worksheets.

  10. I chose Activity 2. We have a couple of students that can't spell correctly yet. So sometimes we will write out the sentence and they will do the underlining or highlighting, but we always write exactly what the student tells us to so it's like his own work.
