The supervising teacher makes the lesson plans and the para carries them out.
The teacher determines the objective for the lesson and the para supports the student to help them meet the objective. The para may also take data to use as evidence that the objective has been met.
The classroom teacher may assign a reading activity. The para may read the material aloud to the student.
Communication between supervising teachers and paras is vital. Communicating may be done verbally, through e-mail, or a hand-written note. I use all three.
Our superviseing teacher also makes the lesson plans for us and we jus carrie out what ever she tells us. I also read aloud the meterials that the teachers give my students so they can better understand what they need to do and read.
Deleteyour right communication between supervising teachers is very important but we dont communicate through e-mail because i dont really check my e-mail alot.
DeleteI know how that is. I try to check my school e-mail every morning, but sometimes at noon. Any less than that and I find I have missed something from a classroom teacher. It was hard to get in the habit, though, as I don't check my mail at home that often!
Deleteat our school. i have permission from the supervising teacher to come up with or make lesson plans for a certain few students. i run my ideas by her and she okays them and i carry out said plans. mostly because i spend alot of time with the student so i know more about their mood and behavior and can improvise if i need to. but other times i have carried out her lesson plans that she has written and given me.
DeleteIt's very nice to be able to do that we go class to class with them to stay where they are at on there level on test homework and reading all around
DeleteLike you, Krissann, I have come up with lesson plans that may work with a student that I see more often than she does. I always ask her before implementing them, though.

The Supervising teacher does the Behavior Management, she makes the behavior charts and she gives rewards if they do good and let them know if they are doing bad.
The Supervising teacher also goes to the meetings for the IEP's and she talks with the parents if they child is doing good or bad and how they are doing in school.
Communication with my Supervising teacher is very important, because if you have a question on something that happened with a student you need to know if you handeled it right or if you needed to do something diffrent. Like for instence I am a new para and if i had an insident i would go to her and ask if i handeled the sittuation right. Or if i have and questions on the lesson plans i have with a student I would go to her and ask her. How we use communication is talking to eachother, through e-mail. We just talk to eachother because we are in the same class room and its easyer and faster if we just communicate with eachother verbaly.
One of our grades gives tickets for good behavior and then the kids can spend tickets on prizes such as taking shoes off in class or extra time at recess ect. the teacher has given me the tickets to give to the student i work with so i am in charge of his reward for his time with me. but i like the idea of a behavior chart because sometime we have bad days. so i might run that by my teacher and see if we can implement something like that
DeleteOur supervisor does a thing called learning earnings on kids that behave they get on sign in they can check behavior grade how they are doing get money like doing a checking or savings account then get to order things that come in the mail for them they look forward to see how they do or money wise what they can get to save for it's pretty cool

My supervising teacher does all the clerical type duties, all the paper work involved in special ed. She will have me grade papers and make copies for her but thats usually about it and thats fine with me :D The teacher also helps me develop materials or come up with ideas to help the students comprehend the lessons. Communication is very important between the para and teacher. Personally, i prefer face to face communication with my supervising teacher, however we have exchanged text messages if either one of us is gone from school regarding students and what they are/were working on. we email, or i email time sheets and leave forms. but i like to come check in every morning and before i go on to another class just to update and keep informed on whats up.
I agree with you because communication between our supervisor and other paras is very good and very important. We also text each other when we have questions on a student or a class subject when she is out of the school building. There are times that if a students behavior is bad in class we will text our supervisor so that she could intervene in the situation before it gets worse.

It's nice with our supervisor I'm new at this and we all work together very well and when I have any concern about a student or situation to ask or go on my supervisor is well organized and is on top of it giving directions and how to Handel situations
Our supervisor handles most of behavior and daily work for us on a daily bases it's nice to be able to call on her and be all on the same page as long with the same on the other teachers for our school nice communicating skills all around
I agree with you, because or supervisor is always on top of things. We can always go to her if we have issues with a student behavior, or questions on a class subject.
DeleteI agree that being able to go with your supervisor when there's any concerns is great. I know that when I have any questions that I need to ask her she is always their to help and guide us in the right direction.
DeleteCommunication between teachers and your paras is so important! It seems as if coop-wide, time to meet with paras is an issue that needs to be addressed. It sounds like many issues could be offset by scheduled communication between teachers and paras. The daily schedule and log in this chapter are very well done. My only concern with this form of communication is that we need to make sure that as paras we are not logging when we are supposed to be working with students. I agree that it is a great communication tool, but not at the expense of student contact time.

My supervisor does all the Clerical Duties but we help her in the process. We work with the students and know more how they are doing in class and show her what the students’ progress is. She also does a behavior chart for them but as we the paras go in with them to the class we take the chart with us and mark on their individual chart showing how that student did for that day.
Communication is the best thing that we as paras can have with our supervisor. It’s nice to know if we have any kind of problems or questions we can go to her with our concerns and it will be addressed on the spot. It’s really great that even when she is out of the building for the day that we have a way to communicate with her with emails or calling her or messaging her we just won’t be left in the dark. It’s always good to express what you think with your supervisor to know if you both are on the same level and won’t have any problems later on because you know what’s expected and can get your job done as it’s expected.

Our Supervisor makes the weekly lesson plans and determines the objectives of the them and classroom lesson plans, and we as paras follow through with them. She also provides instuctions for the class we help reinforce them. She also does all her IEP meeting with the parents.
Communication with my supervisor is very important and really good. She is very good when I have questions on a subject, she helps me how to explain it to the student. When I have issues with a students behavior and I report it to her she ammediately adresses the student. I also have communicated with my supervisor by texting or by phone on the days that she is out of the classroom regarding questions on a student, a test that we didnt know about that needed to be modified, or just any concerns or problems with students.
I agree with you that having all communication with a supervisor is good because their May be days that's she is gone and we have questions and being able to communicate with her by phone or text or email is always helpful.
